Chill Out Project

Using the Chill Out Bus mobile project vehicle, or local community venues, the project delivers a comprehensive play and youth work activities service across Harborough District, working closely with Parish and Town Councils to provide activity sessions in rurally isolated communities. Sessions can include arts and crafts, sports, cooking and games, as well as providing an opportunity for support with emotional wellbeing difficulties from the trained and experienced staff.

In Harborough District, young people’s geographical isolation, limited transport options, and lack of youth-specific support services within easy reach, are factors which are likely to increase the danger of young people experiencing personal difficulties and loneliness. Young people’s loneliness can be compounded where they, or family members, have health or disability issues, and where family lives are under stress.

In communities with limited awareness of the needs of local young people, and poor provision for them, inter-generational misunderstanding and stereotyping can arise.
